Springfields Cottage sits in an idyllic setting not far from the A87 Skye Bridge to Portree road on the romantic Isle of Skye, with spectacular views across Broadford Bay to the distant mountains. This location is very central for exploring not only Skye itself, but also for re-crossing the bridge (now toll-free) to visit Plockton, the Applecross peninsula and the wonderful mountains of Torridon on the mainland of Scotland.

The house itself is a traditional, former croft house sitting alone in its own large private gardens. The inside has been meticulously refurbished to a high standard retaining such character features as the exposed stone wall in the sitting room and the coombed ceilings and dormer windows on the first floor. Electric storage heating and a wood burning stove in the sitting room ensure that this is a warm and welcoming haven whatever the weather.

A five minute stroll will bring you to a sandy beach at Ashaig while at nearby Broadford (3m) you will find a choice of shops ( among them a supermarket), garage, hotels, restaurants etc. If you wish to celebrate a special occasion then Lady Claire MacDonald’s Kinloch Lodge and the Eilean Iarmain Hotel are only a short drive away down the Sleat peninsula. On this part of the island visitor attractions include the Armadale Castle Gardens and, if you drive over the hills to Elgol, you can take a boat trip across Loch Scavaig and view the famous Black Cuillin soaring above. Remember to pack your walking boots because there are many delightful walks of varying degrees of difficulty even if you don’t feel up to the challenge of the mighty Cuillins.

You are also not very far from the otter hide at Kylerhea. To get there you make another remarkable hill drive with stunning views of the mainland mountains. During the summer a little ferry sails back and forth between Kylerhea and Glenelg.

About 20 miles up the coast at Sconser you will find a golf course and there are plenty of opportunities in the area for sailing and loch fishing.
