Knappach Cottage

The Lynaberach and Ruthven Estate
Near Kingussie, Inverness-shire.

Sleeping 6, 6 and 8/9

The Lynaberach and Ruthven Estate in the southern Highlands is a privately-owned 11,OOO acre country estate of glorious heather- covered hills and peaceful glens in the Grampian Mountains some 6 miles from the small Highland town of Kingussie (shops, hotels, golf- course, railway station) - easily reached via the fast A9 Edinburgh/ Inverness road.

Here, in peaceful Glen Tromie, just near to the shallow River Tromie as it glides over stoney pools, are two much favoured high- standard, very comfortable modern properties which each make an ideal holiday home-from-home for a family; and, a little closer to Kingussie, surmounting a grassy hillock which affords spectacular views of the mountains all around, there is a traditonal stone cottage which can accommodate two families or larger parties.

There is exceptional walking and bird-watching on the Estate; fishing and sport as outlined below; and it is only 12 miles from the attractions of Aviemore with a further 8 miles to the chairlift that carries you up the Cairngorm Mountains. In addition this is an excellent touring centre with main roads radiating to Fort William and Inverness, and lots of small tracks branching into mountain glens just waiting to be explored.

There are some 6 kms double-bank and 7 kms single-bank fishing on the River Tromie, and 2 kms single-bank fishing on the Spey - all containing stocked and wild brown trout. (There is always the chance of a salmon - they are there but hard to catch). In addition there are three easily accessible lochs (one with boat) with stocked brown trout.

All these properties have superb positions, a lovely outlook, car parking at the door, and are safe and interesting for children.

Accommodation:

Lynaberach Cottage (Sleeps 6)

Lynaberach Wing (Sleeps 6)

The setting of the lynaberach Wing Lynaberach Wing is a snug and comfortable wing of the large 'Lynaberach Lodge' which stands further up this entrancing valley. At the side of the Lodge (which is used intermittently by the owners) - just 60 yards from the river - the Wing is completely self-contained with its own entrance, and has really lovely views right up the valley. We regret no TV as reception is very poor.

Heating is by electricity and wood-burning stove. Bed - linen and towels are included!included. Pets by prior arrangement.
