Loch Fyne Apartment
Minard
Argyll
Sleeping 4
The village of Minard lies between Inveraray and Lochgilphead beside the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll. Take the turning off the main road, drive up the hill and before you, at the end of the road, you will arrive at Achagoil House. A whitewashed farmhouse in the traditional style, the lower part of Achagoil is now a superb, totally independent apartment, with its own entrance and parking space.
The house has its own lovely gardens (furniture) laid out on the hillside to the rear of the building and offering beautiful views over the loch which lies at the bottom of the hill.
Inside, the apartment has been delightfully furnished to provide a comfortable and cosy holiday home. In the U-shaped open plan living area the open fire is set into an exposed stone wall and the dining area curves round to a roomy, well-equipped kitchen. Two bedrooms and a bathroom complete the accommodation.
You will find a general store in Minard and in Furnace (3.5m) a pub which serves very good lunches. The attractive village of Inveraray (all facilities, golf course) lies 10 miles to the north and is certainly worth a visit to see its castle and jail. Lochgilphead (13m) to the south has a supermarket and leisure centre. From there you have a choice: to continue south down the Mull of Kintyre or to push north towards Oban passing through Kilmartin Glen with its fascinating history and its neolithic stones.
In this most attractive area there are many popular activities such as pony-trekking, sailing, walking and cycling.
Heating is by electricity (first £15
included). Bed linen and towels are
included. Pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted within the cottage.
