Near St Boswells
Sleeping 4, 2 bedrooms
Horsemill Cottage is a charming barn conversion situated on the outskirts of the pretty village of St Boswells (shops, pub, hotel) about 10 miles north of Jedburgh in the wonderfully scenic and historic Scottish Borders.
The setting is peaceful as the cottage is surrounded by trees and fields at the end of a short track about one mile from the main A68 Newcastle-Edinburgh trunk road. From this location Edinburgh, the Berwickshire coast and north Northumberland all lie within an hour's drive. The furnishings and fittings in the cottage have all been carried out to a very high standard. The glass-walled hexagonal sitting room is spectacular and the twin bedroom with shower-room is perfect for the not-so-nimble. Upstairs there is a bathroom and a gallery of quite original design leading to a double bedroom.
The large, outside terrace (furniture) is ideal for sunbathing while the more active visitor will enjoy walks along the river Tweed to the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey beside which a hotel is handily placed for refreshments. Other activities include fishing, golf, riding, tennis and canoeing, all of which are on offer locally. Shoppers are not forgotten with all the woollen-mill outlets and craft shops of the small, characterful Border towns. Within a 50 mile radius there are a host of attractions both scenic and historic to entertain the whole family.
Heating by gas CH (first £20 included) and oil stove. Electricity, bed-linen and towels are all included. Pets are accepted by arrangement.
