Glenburnie Lodge

Glenburnie Lodge
Near Earlston
Berwickshire

Sleeping 4 (6)

Glenburnie Lodge is a brand new and very attractive and substantial timber lodge with a large verandah standing within its own grassed and wooded grounds just west of the village of Earlston (pubs/small shops), and north of the Abbey Town of Melrose (boutiques/hotels/restaurants) in the lovely Scottish Border country. It is hidden away out of sight off a very quiet back-road, and has a delightful open aspect, green and tranquil, looking across the trees which fringe the valley of the River Leader. There are delightful riverside walks in the valley below and fishing is also available on this tributary of the mighty Tweed.

Inside, the lodge is light and spacious and most comfortably furnished - a perfect place to chill out in a peaceful setting, yet easily accessible and convenient for all the many attractions of this most beautiful area of Scotland.

Here, you are in the very heart of Walter Scott country, with his beloved home of Abbotsford just 6 miles away between Melrose and Galashiels. There is a wide choice of castles and stately homes to visit, all with their own particular charms. The little Border towns are well furnished with swimming pools, leisure centres and golf courses, while Galashiels (8m) has its own cinema. Glenburnie lies just off the Southern Upland Way and St Cuthbert's Way is also close by, so there is no shortage of good walking. This is also historic riding country - those visiting in June and July will have the opportunity to witness one or two of the spectacular Border Festivals. The sight of up to 500 horses fording the Tweed or galloping across the hills is a sight not to be missed. The nearest riding stables are just a mile or two from the lodge.

Those in search of the some major retail therapy or cosmopolitan culture will find Glenburnie is just 32 easy miles south of Edinburgh. It is also just one hour's drive from the coast, where there is a safe beach at Coldingham and diving and the RSPB Bird Sanctuary at St Abbs.

Heating by electricity (£10 included!included). Bed-linen and towels are included!included. One dog is welcome. Smoking is not allowed within the lodge.
