Selkirkshire

Sleeping 4

Glenamoy Glenamoy Cottage is a detached stone cottage in the rolling hill country of The Scottish Borders just 6 miles west of Galashiels (shops, hotels, cinema, etc) and 12 miles east of Peebles (all facilities) - with easy access to Edinburgh (35m). It sits in roughly one and a half acres of land which includes its own enclosed grass-garden and small paddock, and faces south over the Tweed Valley.

Tweed valley This snug cottage has secondary glazing and is traditionally and comfortably furnished, with a modern fitted kitchen and a bright, spacious living room.

The cottage provides a delightful setting in which to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery. For the more energetic, the famous River Tweed at Thornielee is only three-quarters of a mile away (fishing by permit). The Thornielee stretch is also excellent for canoeing. There is no shortage of moorland and forest walks in the immediate vicinity (excellent mountain biking!) and there are also many good and often inexpensive golf courses within easy distance. A 'Freedom of the Fairways' ticket, obtainable from tourist offices and local clubs, gives access to no less than 21 of them. Horse riding is available at Peebles and Galashiels, where there are also swimming pools and tennis courts.

Quiet drive to Glenamoy All the famous stately homes of the Borders are within an hour's drive and Glenamoy lies almost equidistant between Sir Walter Scott's home at Abbotsford and historic Traquair, near Innerleithen, with its claim to be the oldest continuously inhabited house in Scotland (not to mention its own private brewery!).

Heating is by oil-CH (included!included), and open-fire (supply of logs included!included). Bed-linen, towels and electricity are included!included. Pets are welcome under strict control (sheep country!). No smoking within the cottage.
