St Cuthbert's Cottage
Eyemouth
Berwickshire
Scotland
Sleeping 4 (5)
Eyemouth, (shops, pubs, restaurants) on the Berwickshire coast in South East Scotland, is one of the few traditional Scottish fishing villages still in business. Just 9 miles from the English border at Berwick on Tweed (all facilities, train station) the coastline here varies from glorious beaches (Coldingham 3m) to dramatic cliffs with fabulous seabird colonies at St Abbs (5m, diving school).
St Cuthbert's Cottage is tucked up a quaint, narrow cul-de-sac which runs down across the main street to Eyemouth's own sandy beach. A traditional fisherman's cottage, it has been completely renovated to provide bright and cosy accommodation. The sitting room, with light wood floors, is comfortably furnished, with a modern fitted kitchen off, while the bedrooms are large and airy. It is ideal for a small family, who will find lots to do and see in this fascinating area.
There is Eyemouth's own working harbour to visit, beautiful Holy Island and Lindisfarne (24m) and historic Bamburgh (30m) and Alnwick Castles, (Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films). There are many good golf courses in the area - Muirfield itself is just 37 miles up the coast - quad biking, riding, and superb walking, both along the coast and inland on the Southern Upland Way which ends at Cockburnspath (13m). A day trip to Edinburgh, 50 miles by car or by train from Berwick, is perfectly feasible.
Heating by gas CH, electricity and bed linen are all
