Callwood Smiddy lies 4 miles west of Aberfeldy (shops, hotels, restaurants) in the Perthshire countryside. It makes an excellent base for visiting central Scotland and the mid-west coast, for golfing, for enjoying walks in the neighbouring hills, for fishing and watersports on beautiful Loch Tay 2 miles distant. Pitlochry and Perth are both popular tourist towns 30 and 45 minutes away respectively. The village of Kenmore is closer to home, only 2 miles away, with a pub and restaurant.
Callwood Smiddy is utterly charming. A 200-year old blacksmith's forge, it has been completely renovated within the original 3 ft thick stone walls. One visitor loved the cottage so much she declared she would never have been able to let it had it been her own. Many visitors will share this sentiment as the conversion and refurbishment have been painstakingly and thoughtfully carried out to ensure optimum comfort and convenience and to match internally the splendour of the views outside.
The cottage is double-glazed, on its own and independent, with private access and parking. There is a south-facing patio (with furniture and barbecue) with views across the garden to the woods and hills of Breadalbane on the distant shore of Loch Tay.
Heating is by wood burning stove (First basket of logs included) and electricity (£10 included). Bed-linen and towels are included. We regret neither children under 12, nor pets, are allowed; and smoking is not permitted within the house. Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.
